We use limitless manners, styles and levels to deal with other people and generally we choose one of them in diverse situations. When dealing with people, these styles will determine how they respond to us.
There
are some kinds of these styles that we can find ourselves in: The Porcupine,
they walk into every situation expecting to be offended; King or Queen of the
Forest: they are legends in their own minds; The Poser: their goal is looking
better than the others; People-Eater: they want to control everyone and
everything; Drama Queen: every event in their life is extraordinary; Scarlet
O’Hara: they choose not to deal with difficulties when faced with them;
Victim: they aren’t accountable for anything; Einstein Analyzers: they dissect every situation to the point of complete tedium; The Mask: they try to hide something in their life; Perfecto: They assume that only themselves have to be perfect; Chicken Little: they are anxious and urgent; Guilt monger: they use guilt as a weapon to control and keep down on others.

We may find ourselves through these
examples or at least find our style of interacting with others. One of the
styles of engagement above generally describes me, it is Scarlet O’Hara. Like
the Scarlet O’Hara, I choose not to deal with difficulties when I face them. I
always say “I’ll think about that tomorrow, I’ll do it anytime in the future.”,
but sometimes I can’t deal with issues that I postponed.
These
all styles are related to our personalities. According to Myers and Briggs,
there are 16 different personality types which are defined by four different dichotomies; Extraversion and
Introversion, Sensing and İntuition, Thinking and Feeling, Judging and
Perceiving. These types only indicate an individual's preferences in everyday
life, they don’t measure aptitude. Extraversion
(E) and Introversion
(I) are typically thought of as
attitudes. Sensing (S) and İntuition
(N), Thinking
(T) and Feeling
(F) are functions. Everybody has
one dominant function. Judging (J) and Perceiving
(P) are lifestyle functions that
are used in relation to relating with the outside world. Among these attitudes,
functions and lifestyles; Extraversion,
Sensing, Thinking and Perceiving are defining my personality
type. Its shortcut is ESTP. It is also named as Promoter. According to some
resources Winston Churchill, Ernest Hemingway, John F. Kennedy and Madonna are
promoters as well.
On many issues, I
have same properties common with the promoters. As an illustration of these;
People with the ESTP personality type, we, are directive and expressive when
communicating with people. Our
charisma and enthusiasm make us adept public speakers, but sometimes we are
unaware of the impact that our actions and comments have upon the feelings of
those around us.
We're unusually quick thinkers who can review immediate
circumstances and make fast decisions. We are remarkably innovative, effective
and practical in these situations that require fast thinking and quick action.
We’re not inclined to spend time analyzing a situation. Instead, our decisions
and actions are based upon our understanding of the facts at hand. We focus our attention on the details rather than the
big picture and on immediate realities rather than future possibilities. We are
more concrete than abstract. We rely on objective criteria rather than personal
values. We are active people who want to solve our problems rather than simply
discuss them. We have well-honed improvisational skills that allow us to
respond to situations more quickly than our peers. Due to our natural
competitiveness and improvisational ability, we often find success in sales
positions. Actually, our goal in life is to sell
our ideas to others.
We have a natural exuberance and find great joy in immersing
themselves into situations that pose a level of risk. Our fondness for acting
in the presence of risk makes us uniquely qualified for getting projects
launched. Despite our strengths in taking risks and acting decisively, we often
leave unfinished business behind us.
We are one of the most spontaneous types and are simultaneously
exciting and challenging to be around. We display an energetic nature that can
inspire others, and we also resourceful, knowing
where the fun and the action are. Our tendency to live in the moment
drives us to find new challenges, while existing projects
bore us. We are hands-on learners who live in the
moment, seeking the best in life, wanting to share it with our friends. We are
gifted at earning others' with the help of our charming, witty, fun and debonair
characteristics.
We are also
unpredictable, sophisticated, observant, action oriented, generous, socially,
troubleshooter, clever and creative person. If we can find a way to
harness our energy and creativity, and work closely with others to bring projects
to completion, we can achieve a lasting success.
